What a weekend!

Labor Day weekend three years ago at Sebasco Harbor Resort hummed with activity to celebrate the wedding of Kara and Simon.

The bride  and groom, together with their families, provided a true Maine experience for their guests:  sailing in the bay, lobster bake, reggae band (wait, did I say Maine?), blueberry breakfasts, swimming… and that was all BEFORE wedding day!

Skies were blue and bright as the bride walked down the aisle wearing an elegant dress and a 10-foot foot long veil – an heirloom that had been in her family for generations.

The groom stood proudly. A grand cheer went up as the glass was broken.  Mazel tov!

The merriment continued under the orchestration of Tony Boffa; not a single guest was left in their seat.  The bride and groom did their fair share of turns on the dance floor – moving with the style and grace of a couple who had been dancing together for years.

I recall a moment at the end of the evening, watching the couple tucked away together in the corner of the Resort’s pub.  Their sincere smiles were the mark of a wonderful day. They were still enjoying the company of friends and family … but they were clearly folded into one another with the focus of a newly and happily married couple.  Just the beginning.

Cheers Kara and Simon!… to you and your third anniversary.  May you always celebrate life with family and friends… especially with the memory of the Maine coast.  It was more than “beginner’s luck” that the two of you found each other.

Hip Hip Hooray for Hues

Love it when things do not match… but coordinate.

A hue is a gradient or variation of color.  It is about having elements that compliment without being the same.

No one wants the tone of their wedding to be one note.  Make your colors sing.

We all have “firsts”.

For Amy and Kevin, this was their first true love… and their forever love.

For Amy and Kevin, this was their first true love… and their forever love.

For me, it was my first wedding.

I continue to celebrate this date – six years ago today.

What a glorious day filled with so much love and laughter.

The ceremony and reception were held at Gilsland Farm (Maine Audubon Society) in Falmouth.  The day was bright, sunflowers from the farmer’s market were bold, and bride and groom were poised to have the time of their lives.

The bride took deep shaky breaths as she prepared to stroll down the aisle, and an endless grin spread across her face as she met her groom’s eyes.

This was the first time that I had ever experienced this moment this way.  I will never forget it.  Usually, from where I stand, I can see the groom’s face when he sees his bride for the very first time on their wedding day.  It is a moment that I don’t think I will ever get over. It’s a glimpse into a very special moment; a very private moment; and it is why I love what I do.  Thank you Amy and Kevin for sharing that moment with me for the first time.

The ceremony concluded with a shrill “yay!” from the bride just before the kiss… and the two set off to celebrate.  They treated their guests to amazing food and unbridled dancing beneath trees drenched in mason jar lanterns and a glowing tent.  The bride and groom worked hard on every detail to make their wedding their dream day.  My favorite element was that every piece was “stamped” with a logo they created out of their initials (designed by Kevin).  So clever!

It is crazy to think that six years have already passed… it seems only a heartbeat ago.  I am now honored to call Amy and Kevin dear friends.  I have had the pleasure to witness their fabulous relationship grow through the years – from their walk down the aisle, to their first house, to the birth of their beautiful boys.

Cheers Amy and Kevin! … to you and your sixth anniversary.  May you continue to be such an amazing team and to find great joy in the small things in life. Steady as you go.

… but if a marriage is born between two already self-discovered, what a lovely adventure begins, hurricanes and all.

A classic car. Classic style. A classic couple. Classic and classy.

Five years ago today I watched a stunningly beautiful bride meet her impeccably tailored groom face to face at a small chapel on Cousins Island, Maine.

Perhaps the only thing to outshine the stylish attire of the two were the smiles on the their faces on that wonderful day.

The Cousins Island Chapel in Yarmouth was packed with family and friends for the beautiful ceremony. The wedding rings arrived at the chapel on a classic toy Shelby Cobra carried by the bride’s nephew. The rings left  the chapel on the fingers of their new owners as they pulled away in a classic Camaro SS.  (how cool is that?!).

The reception celebration commenced at Handy Boat in Falmouth –  a very unique location –  where the ceilings were draped with sails from boats to create a cozy and festive atmosphere.  The entirety of the fabulous wedding decor was created by the bride and her mother – an amazing dynamic duo, indeed.

And the dancing … oh the dancing!  It was hard to stop all those feet from moving as the band played their last song. The night could have gone on forever.

Shelby and Scott (along with their families) hosted a truly amazing party.  Love was surely in the air on that night five years ago as everyone celebrated with gusto.

Cheers Shelby and Scott!… to you and your fifth anniversary.  May you continue to find great joy in your life together – dancing together.  I will continue to applaud the Adventures MacLeod.

You two are true classics.
